What to Spend Your Money On

The best things to buy on Amazon.

Riddle me this. Since I’ve been in Shelter in Place, it’s pretty safe to say that I’m not spending my money on going out to dinner, drinks at a bar, concerts, or fun trips... so why is my bank account not reflecting any savings? One word…

Amazon.

Maybe it’s the fact that I feel like I’m trapped in the house and can’t go outside to purchase a single damn thing no matter how essential it may be. Deodorant? Nope. Toothpaste? Keep dreaming. Umm water? YEAH RIGHT STAY HOME.

So while I have to go online to purchase these kinds of items, I find myself heading to the giant retail conglomerate since it really has become a one-stop-shop for literally anything you can think of. And yes, I understand that Amazon is hurting small businesses, however I haven’t been able to support my local shops that didn’t stay open during Shelter in Place.

You can find some crazy shit on Amazon, but there are also some really handy things I have discovered. These are things that you can most definitely live without, but I don’t think you want to.

This week, I bring to you the essential Amazon shopping list. These are the best Amazon buys I have found and now don’t know how I ever lived without. Check out the greatness.

HYDRATE

I’ve always struggled to drink the right amount of water on a daily basis. And what is the right amount? “They” always tell you how much you should be drinking in ounces or liters, and let’s be honest- who the fuck understands liquid measurements?!

I discovered this giant water bottle that is the exact amount of water you should be drinking each day. I know you’re not counting how many glasses you’re drinking a day and you for sure don’t know how big your glass is, so are you really as hydrated as you think you are? Also, the amount of empty water glasses you leave around the house is obnoxious. I see you.

KEEP IT SHINY

Do you have a sink? Do you own cookware? Do you have a bathroom? Do you own silverware or dishes? If you don’t have any of those things, I’m not really quite sure what your situation is… either way, this stuff will make all of the above look brand new and it’s incredibly satisfying! DON’T DO CRACK

This is something I wish I knew about years ago. For those who own a mobile phone, it’s a given that you should have a protective phone case as well as a screen protector so that when you drop your phone the screen doesn’t crack. It’s a very simple concept.

What’s not so simple is that I used to drop my phone and crack the screen protector (not the phone, which is the point so I guess that’s a win). I’d then go to the Apple store to replace the screen protector and have them apply it to my phone for me. This was happening all the damn time and it was not cheap- I think around $40 a pop. I’m sure there’s a similar process for android users as well.

I then discovered you can order the screen protectors on Amazon in packages of 3 for only $9. AND the set comes with an applicator so you can do it all yourself and it’s actually hard to mess it up. Long title drum roll, please…

SECURE IT

I love this next item so much I actually went on Amazon, bought two more sets, and left a raving review. I really need to get a life. These guys keep your rug in one place on your floor. I know… GROUNDBREAKING.

But actually you stick these little corner pieces on the edges of your rugs that are on hardwood floors in your home and it prevents the rugs from slipping around and also keeps you from tripping on the ends.

Back in the day, I used to book celebrities like JLo for my client’s swanky events, and now this is the shit that excites me.

DANCE

This next one is more of a bigger purchase, but also pretty reasonable considering its magical powers. We were looking for a great sound system in our living room area and outdoor area for our weekly dance parties. We found this Bose speaker that has the effects of surround sound and that we can take with us around the house + outside Dance parties on the move!!
